St Joseph & the Helpers Charity are delighted to announce that Maurice Bond, runner number 4433, completed the London Marathon on Sunday, 22nd April with flying colours! He ran 16 miles without incident and then a runner in front of him tripped over. Maurice took evasive action and twisted his ankle on a kerbstone.
The paramedics wanted to cart him off for an x-ray but brave Maurice insisted on carrying on and “hobbled” for the remainder of the journey. Maurice knew your donations were dependent on him and he was not prepared to fail any of us. What a star!
As you know, all proceeds from Maurice’s marathon run are going to the building fund of a Grandparents Home in Bosnia Herzegovina. This is a wonderful project which will accommodate up to 50 elderly people on completion. Some of them come from a nearby refugee camp. Thank you all for your amazing generosity – sponsorship card holders and donors alike. With your help, we have raised over £6,000 for the project.
Together we help these people achieve some peace in their latter years.
