There is a strong will in Slovakia in favour of comprehensive e-Government. This is to be achieved through fast-track software projects in this environment. And this was the core statement at the ITAPA Conference which was held in Bratislava on 14 and 15 November, 2006. The extremely apt motto of the event was "Look at the future". With over 550 participants the ITAPA is the biggest and most well attended e-Government event in Slovakia. The expansion of electronic services for citizens is one of the Slovak government's prime objectives.
In the opening speech Dušan Čaplovič, deputy prime minister of Slovakia, emphasised the importance of e-Government in modern administration. In her video message EU Commissioner Vivianne Reding spoke in particular about the increasing opportunities for small EU countries in terms of e-Government. In improving services for citizens, Slovakia is certainly on the right track. In June this year IT consultancy specialists Capgemini also reported growth in all key factors of e-Government for Slovakia.
As part of the individual sessions Walter M. Schill, Senior Vice President E-Government, presented Fabasoft's "Strategy 100". The software company sees this strategy as full functionality in both the Microsoft Windows and Linux environments. Karl Mayrhofer, Senior Vice President E-Government, went on to explain the successful implementation of Fabasoft eGov-Suite in the Free State of Bavaria to the specialists who had gathered. In the discussions that followed the participants were highly impressed by the successful projects realised by the Austrian software producers.
