Fabasoft has been awarded ISO 27001 certification for the location in Linz. This represents a further step in Fabasoft's consistent implementation of international standards. The company was also awarded ISO 9001 certification, for example, in 2005.
The ISO 27001 standard is recognised throughout the world for the evaluation of the security of IT environments.
The scope of validity of Fabasoft's certification specifies the requirements of comprehensive information security management in respect of all IT and business processes and all sensitive information of the company.
Fabasoft chose Certification & Information Security Services GmbH (CIS) specifically to handle the certification process as CIS has profound expertise in the field of certification.
In its capacity as service provider, Fabasoft has access to sensitive and business-relevant data from its customers. Confidentiality and the availability of the information are therefore essential for the success of the business and also provide the platform for a working relationship based on trust.
For customers the ISO 27001 certification means the observance of clearly defined technical and security-related standards and thus defined service levels in the Fabasoft computer centres.
The regular internal monitoring of the processes and measures defined as part of ISO 27001 is the basis for the further development of the internal IT security standards and the continuous adaptation to ever changing basic conditions and tasks.
The stringent requirements of the ISO certificates are examined on a yearly basis in an auditing procedure and then extended for a further year if the audit is successful. The catalogue of requirements, which contains some 130 measures, includes specifications regarding data protection, handling information, backup, recovery and risk analysis.
This initiative of Fabasoft in the field of the ISO 27001 certification is also an important basis for future activities with a view to providing software as a service (SaaS) and thus taking advantage of new business opportunities on the Web ("cloud computing").
The unique event "talk the future®", organised together with the IMC FH Krems, will also address this topic: International thought leaders such as Don Tapscott, author of the book "Wikinomics" and Andrew McAfee, Professor at the Harvard Business School, will be visiting Austria for the first time to share their vision with the participants.
